Just started ...
Goettingen State and University Library just started an e-Humanities project funded by The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation). It is titled "Konzeptionelle Entwicklung einer Forschungsinfrastruktur fürdie e-Humanities in Deutschland" (Toward a virtual researchinfrastructure for the e-Humanities in Germany).
The major challenge is the creation of a strategy for the development of research infrastructures within the humanities in Germany.
A specific objective of the project is the analysis of national and international initiatives in the field of e-Humanities. A state-of-the-art study is to gather information about current activities especially in Europe and the US. It will create surveys of respective organisations in order to promote collaboration and synergies between potential partners at a national level in Germany. Eventually, a conceptual paper will draft advices for the building of partnerships between institutions, organisations, and individual projects. It will also suggest new ways of funding a central German competence centre for e-Humanities.
Project partners are Max Planck Digital Library and the Institute of German Language and Literature at Darmstadt University of Technology.
