The Workflow Tool is used to coordinate other non-interactive tools so that you can automatically set up a procedure for dealing with a large number of objects. For example, you could use the Workflow Tool to automatically lemmatize and tokenize an entire data set.
Workflows are useful when a sequence of certain processes is to be made repeatable and permanent. In TextGrid, workflows can be applied to a list of TextGrid Objects that are to be processed in a batch. Another use is to make Web Services that do not have their own graphical user interface (GUI) accessible in TextGridLab. These services can be specified in a workflow and be enacted when this workflow is executed. Workflows are saved in XML format in TextGrid.
The Workflow perspective contains:
- The Navigator and the Searchtool in order to select objects via drag and drop
- A list of the input documents scheduled for your workflow
- A list of all available workflows
- An overview about active and recently finished jobs
- A list of the results
