Importing Files

Step 1:

In order to import your own files into the TextGrid Repository, first click on "File" and then on "Import Files..."

Step 2:

A window will open with a help text describing the following steps. When you click on the button "Add files to import...", another window will open in which you can select the files to import from the local drives and networks of your computer.

Step 3:

After you have made your selection, the files to import will be displayed as a list. If there is pre-existing metadata in the TextGrid format for your files (for example, if you have previously exported it), then you only need to check the box "Read.meta files for metadata if available".

Step 4:

The last step in this window is the selection of the target project from the drop-down list. All of the projects to which you have write - access as an Editor will appear in this list.

Step 5:

After clicking on the "Next" button, metadata entry fields will appear. If you were able to import metadata along with your files, it will automatically appear in these fields. Entering metadata is described in a separate  tutorial.

Step 6:

If all required metadata has been entered in the entry fields, you can complete the import process by clicking on the "Finish" button.

Step 7:

The files that you have imported will now appear as objects under the name that you entered as title in the metadata field.
